Donate $25. or more and your name goes in the frame and up on the website for all the world to see! Preserve Bottle Village is an all volunteer CA 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, and donations are tax-deductible. Won't you please donate today? People all around the world love Bottle Village and are quite surprised when told of the "local politics" surrounding Bottle Village. How does Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village feel about being located in Simi Valley? Like a family skeleton hidden in a closet— Like a family secret swept under a rug— Like the orphaned child of a Victorian nun. Many of the locals don't know it exists, the "Knowsits"(aka Movers & Shakers, PowerPals, etc.) pretend it doesn't exist, some outright hate the place, especially Elton Gallegly, our Congressman who called it an "eyesore"! Shame on him! It's on the National Register of Historic Places!Question: If there was a "National Register" place in your town or city wouldn't you expect it to be taken care of and supported by your friends and neighbors? Your Chamber of Commerce? Your City Council? Your Elected Representatives? National=Federal=Important! It's just plain 'ol Simi Valley PMS— Post-Modern Sub-Urban. (Like in the basement of Global Cultural Awareness!)What else is in Simi Valley, anyway? The Paintball Palace? Another Mall? The much touted Simi Valley Town Center Mall is pretend Tuscany— the balconies overlook the vast sea of cars. Gimme a break.) Oh ya, and don't forget the Chamber of Commerce and the "Tourism Bureau".They think Simi Valley is on the A-List of "Tourist Destinations" because of its "close proximity to Disneyland" (no lie that's a quote!) Ya right, if you want to spend a few hours on the 405...Duh! Simi Valley has the Reagan Library, which is cool. Guess the Knowsits can't hear the cha-ching of the ultimate Tourist Combo Package"... "Tour the World Famous Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village and The Reagan Library", for one low price of $$$! Now that's add-on Marketing! POP's galore... Hey, can't you see the T-Shirts— "I saw Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village and the Reagan Library, Now I have this goofy T-Shirt from Simi Valley!" So, until the Knowsits get their noses out of the air, stop the Mall Myopia, and quit the wannabe Beverly Hills 'tude, Bottle Village's survival depends on support from fans outside the City Limits. (Cool, Bottle Village is globally known as "Outsider Art", fits eh? Only the real "insiders" appreciate the Art which is called "Outsider".Oh, Simi Valley might be one of the "safest cities"; (and still trying to erase the infamy of The Rodney King Trial) but it's still a one-horse-town with blinders. So far outside the limits of credibility.. Truly sub-Urban.If Bottle Village were in Santa Barbara, Ojai, even Thousand Oaks or Los Angeles, you bet the Knowsits would take notice and take care of it! Might even showcase it as a "Tourist Destination"! It took LA a long time to realize the worth of Watts Towers, about 50 years and a wrecking ball or two! Preserve Bottle Village needs your help... write a "What are ya thinkin?" note to Elton Gallegly (Shame on him!), write a loathsome reprimand note to the City of Simi Valley (Shame on them!),and give a heads up wake-up call to the Chamber of Dourism. If you love Bottle Village like we do, (yes, there are a few of us who live here, continue to shake our heads at supposedly higher knowledge which masquerades as ingrained ignorance and terminal hubris) then DO SOMETHING! We're all volunteers and our "budget" is without doubt the lowest of any nonprofit. We must pay the property taxes or the property will go into foreclosure. (Been there, done that, long story...) Check out Bottle Village dot com or Bottle Village Blogsite and if you're up to being one of Bottle Village's Friends, there's a page on MySpace too! Thanks to all of you who have helped in the past and a bright cheery "Hello" to all of you Newbies! The Internet is our primo source of communication, and sure beats Bulk Mail! Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village is a treasure and a jewel. Let the brilliance shine! Let's bedazzle the Knowsits out of their rut of fear and stupidity.
